This Spooky Spiderweb Buffalo Chicken Dip is a creamy, spicy, and cheesy Halloween party favorite with a fun spiderweb design made from sour cream. It’s quick to make, uses simple ingredients, and is sure to be a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup buffalo sauce
  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • Optional: black olives, sliced
  • Optional: tortilla chips or celery sticks

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, buffalo sauce, and ranch dressing. Mix until smooth and well combined.
  3. Add the shredded chicken, cheddar cheese, and mozzarella cheese to the bowl. Stir until everything is evenly distributed.
  4. Transfer the mixture to a 9-inch pie dish or small baking dish. Spread it evenly with a spatula, making sure it reaches the edges. Smooth the top.
  5. Bake for 15-20 minutes, until the dip is hot and bubbly. Remove from the oven and let it cool for about 5 minutes.
  6. While the dip cools, prepare the sour cream web. In a small bowl, mix the sour cream and milk until smooth. Transfer to a piping bag or zip-top bag and snip off a tiny corner.
  7. Create the spiderweb pattern. Starting from the center of the dip, pipe a small circle of sour cream. Then pipe concentric circles around it, spacing them about 1 inch apart. You should have about 4-5 circles total.
  8. Draw the web lines. Using a toothpick or the tip of a knife, gently drag from the center outward through all the circles. Repeat this every inch or so around the dip, creating a classic spiderweb pattern. Wipe the toothpick clean between each line.
  9. Garnish with sliced green onions and optional olive spiders. For the spiders, slice black olives in half lengthwise for the body, then cut thin strips for the legs. Arrange them on the web.
  10. Serve immediately with tortilla chips, celery sticks, or crackers.

Notes

Let the cream cheese soften properly for a smooth base. Don’t skip the cooling step before piping the web to prevent the sour cream from melting. Use full-fat sour cream for the best web consistency. Wipe the toothpick clean between each web line for a clean pattern. The dip can be assembled (without the web) up to 24 hours in advance and refrigerated.
