These crispy crescent dough mummy wrapped hot dogs are a fun and easy Halloween snack that combines flaky, buttery dough with juicy hot dogs, perfect for parties and kids.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 oz / 227 g) crescent roll dough (Pillsbury recommended)
  • 8 regular-sized hot dogs (about 45 inches long; beef, turkey, or vegetarian)
  • Yellow mustard (for decorating eyes)
  • Cooking spray or butter (for greasing the baking sheet)
  • Optional: thinly sliced cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
  • Optional: black sesame seeds (alternative for eyes)
  • Optional: garlic powder or paprika (for sprinkling on dough)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with cooking spray or butter.
  2. Unroll the crescent dough onto a clean surface. Press the perforations to seal the dough into one flat sheet. Cut the dough into 1/2-inch (1.3 cm) wide strips using a sharp knife or kitchen scissors.
  3. Wrap each hot dog with the dough strips, spiraling from one end to the other, leaving a small gap near one end uncovered for the ‘face’. Avoid wrapping too tightly or loosely.
  4. Place the wrapped hot dogs seam side down on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them evenly.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and crispy.
  6. Remove from the oven and let cool for 2-3 minutes. Use a small spoon or toothpick to dot two eyes on each mummy with yellow mustard.
  7. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces such as ketchup, mustard, or spicy sriracha mayo.

Notes

Seal dough seams well to prevent unraveling. Do not wrap dough too tightly to allow puffing and crisping. Use room temperature dough for easier wrapping. Check baking time early to avoid burning. Brushing melted butter on dough before baking adds extra crispness. Prepare ahead by wrapping and refrigerating, then bake with extra 1-2 minutes.
