A fun and festive Halloween veggie tray featuring a spider web design made from homemade ranch dip, surrounded by fresh vegetables and black olive spiders. Perfect for parties and gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 packet (1 oz) ranch seasoning mix
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk (optional, for thinner dip)
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 cups cauliflower florets
  • 1 cup baby carrots
  • 1 cup celery sticks
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes
  • 1 cup cucumber slices
  • 1/2 cup black olives
  • Fresh parsley or chives (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Make the ranch dip: In a small bowl, combine 1 cup sour cream, 1/2 cup mayonnaise, 1 packet ranch seasoning mix, and 1 tablespoon lemon juice. Whisk until smooth. If desired, add 1/4 cup buttermilk for a thinner consistency. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Prepare your platter: Wipe a large round platter or pizza pan clean and dry.
  3. Spoon the dip into the center: Place the ranch dip in the center of the platter and spread into a rough circle about 6-8 inches in diameter, about 1/2 inch thick.
  4. Create the spider web pattern: Transfer remaining dip to a piping bag or zip-top bag with a tiny corner snipped off. Pipe straight lines from the center outward like spokes, then pipe curved lines between spokes to create a web pattern.
  5. Arrange the veggies: Starting from the outer edge, arrange veggies in concentric circles, grouping similar colors together. Leave gaps so the web pattern is visible.
  6. Add the spiders: Place whole black olives on the web for spider bodies. Slice additional olives into thin strips for legs, arranging 4 on each side of each body.
  7. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle fresh parsley or chives over the top. Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready.

Notes

Make the dip a day ahead for best flavor. Assemble the tray no more than 4 hours before serving. For a dairy-free version, use vegan sour cream and mayonnaise. The dip can be doubled for larger crowds.
