These easy apple cheese skewers are a quick, fun, and healthy snack that kids love. Made with just apples, cheddar cheese, and pretzel sticks, they come together in under ten minutes and are perfect for preschool snacks, road trips, or any busy day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 medium apples (such as Fuji, Gala, or Honeycrisp), cored and cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 4 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 12 to 15 pretzel sticks (long, thin kind)

Instructions

  1. Wash and prep the apples: Rinse apples under cool water, pat dry. Cut in half, then quarters, remove core and seeds. Cut each quarter into 3-4 chunks, about 1 inch in size.
  2. Cut the cheese: Cut block of cheddar into cubes roughly the same size as apple chunks, about 1 inch by 1 inch.
  3. Assemble the skewers: Take a pretzel stick and thread on a piece of apple, pushing gently toward the middle. Follow with a cube of cheese, then another piece of apple. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
  4. Arrange and serve: Place finished skewers on a plate or container. Serve immediately for best texture.

Notes

For best results, chill the cheese before cutting for cleaner cubes. Toss apple cubes in lemon juice to prevent browning if making ahead. Store assembled skewers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours; pretzels will soften over time. For toddlers under two, serve apple and cheese pieces without the pretzel stick to reduce choking risk.
