This easy lemon garlic butter sheet pan salmon is a quick and delicious weeknight dinner that comes together in about 25 minutes. With simple ingredients like salmon, lemon, garlic, and butter, it’s a crowd-pleaser that feels fancy but requires minimal effort and cleanup.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each or 170g), skin on or off
  • 1 large lemon, thinly sliced into rounds
  • 4 to 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (half a stick or 56g), melted
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt or sea salt (5g)
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper (2g)
  • 1 bunch asparagus, trimmed (optional)
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved (about 150g) (optional)
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Position the oven rack in the middle.
  2. Line your sheet pan with parchment paper or foil. If using foil, lightly spray it with cooking spray.
  3. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Place them skin-side down on the prepared sheet pan, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  4. Season the salmon with salt and pepper evenly over all four fillets.
  5. Arrange the lemon slices around the salmon. Place 2 to 3 lemon slices under each fillet if desired, or scatter them around the pan.
  6. If using vegetables, arrange asparagus spears and cherry tomatoes around the salmon in a single layer.
  7. Melt the butter with the minced garlic in a small microwave-safe bowl for 30 to 45 seconds, or until the butter is completely melted. Stir to distribute the garlic.
  8. Drizzle the garlic butter over the salmon and vegetables, making sure each fillet gets some garlic bits.
  9. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, depending on thickness. Salmon is done when opaque and flakes easily with a fork, or reaches 125°F to 130°F (52°C to 54°C) in the thickest part.
  10. Optional: Broil for 1 to 2 minutes at the end for browned edges, watching carefully to avoid burning.
  11. Remove from the oven and let rest for 2 minutes. Sprinkle fresh parsley over everything before serving.

Notes

Don’t overcook the salmon; it continues to cook after removal. Use room temperature ingredients if possible. Cut lemon slices evenly (about 1/4-inch thick). Watch garlic under the broiler to prevent burning. For different thickness fillets, check thinner ones first.
