A quick and easy sheet pan dinner featuring perfectly flaky salmon and tender, caramelized asparagus, all roasted together on one pan for minimal cleanup and maximum flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (6 ounces each)
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 lemon, thinly sliced
  • 1 pound fresh asparagus
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Position the rack in the center of the oven.
  2. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
  3. Rinse asparagus spears, pat dry, and snap off woody ends. Place in a large bowl.
  4. Drizzle 2 tablespoons olive oil over asparagus, sprinkle with ½ teaspoon kosher salt and ¼ teaspoon black pepper. Toss to coat. Spread in a single layer on one half of the prepared baking sheet.
  5. In a small bowl, combine 3 tablespoons olive oil, minced garlic, 1 teaspoon kosher salt, ½ teaspoon black pepper, 1 teaspoon dried dill, and 1 teaspoon paprika. Stir into a paste.
  6. Pat salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Place on the empty half of the baking sheet, skin-side down. Spread seasoning mixture evenly over the tops of each fillet.
  7. Arrange lemon slices on top of the seasoned salmon fillets.
  8. Roast for 12-15 minutes, depending on thickness. For 1-inch thick fillets, 13 minutes is usually perfect. Asparagus should be tender-crisp with slightly charred edges, and salmon should flake easily with a fork.
  9. If using an instant-read thermometer, insert into the thickest part of the salmon. Aim for 125°F (52°C) for medium-rare or 130°F (54°C) for medium.
  10. Remove from oven and let rest for 2-3 minutes. Sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley. Serve immediately.

Notes

Pat salmon dry for best browning. Don’t crowd the pan; use two pans if needed. Oven temperatures vary; adjust as needed. Let salmon rest before serving. Leftovers keep for up to 3 days in the refrigerator.
