These mummy wrapped smokies are a quick and easy Halloween appetizer made with cocktail smokies, crescent roll dough, and mustard eyes. They’re perfect for parties and disappear in minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (14 ounces) cocktail smokies
  • 1 can (8 ounces) crescent roll dough
  • Yellow mustard (for the eyes)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • Pinch of salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Prepare the egg wash: Crack the egg into a small bowl, add the water, and whisk until uniform and slightly frothy. Set aside.
  3. Open the crescent roll dough carefully and unroll it onto a clean cutting board. Keep the whole rectangle intact.
  4. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice the dough lengthwise into strips about 1/4 to 1/2 inch wide. You should get about 6 to 8 strips per triangle.
  5. Gently separate the strips. Work with one mummy at a time.
  6. Take one cocktail smokie and place it at the end of a dough strip. Wrap the strip around the sausage, slightly overlapping, leaving a small gap near the top for the eyes. Leave about a quarter-inch of the smokie exposed at the top and bottom.
  7. Repeat for all smokies. You should have enough to wrap all the sausages in the package.
  8. Arrange the wrapped mummies on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about an inch of space between each one.
  9. Using a pastry brush, gently brush each mummy with the egg wash.
  10. If using, sprinkle a tiny pinch of salt over each mummy.
  11. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the dough is golden brown and puffy. Start checking at 12 minutes.
  12. Remove from the oven and let the mummies cool on the pan for about 2-3 minutes.
  13. While still warm, dip a toothpick into the mustard and dot two small eyes onto the exposed part of each smokie.
  14. Serve immediately.

Notes

Keep the dough cold for easier handling. Don’t overwrap the smokies; leave a little breathing room. Use a toothpick for precise mustard eyes. Add eyes after baking, not before. For make-ahead, assemble up to 24 hours in advance and refrigerate. Reheat in oven or air fryer for best texture.
