A stunning and easy no-bake Labor Day dessert featuring layers of creamy cheesecake filling, graham cracker base, and whole berries arranged to mimic the American flag.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream, cold
  • 1 cup powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar (optional)
  • 2 cups strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 1/2 cups blueberries
  • Whipped topping or additional whipped cream for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, and granulated sugar in a bowl until mixture resembles wet sand. Press evenly into the bottom of a trifle bowl. Chill in the fridge for 10 minutes to set.
  2. Beat softened cream cheese with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy, about 2-3 minutes. In a separate chilled bowl, whip cold heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold whipped cream into cream cheese mixture.
  3. Spread half of the cheesecake filling evenly over the chilled graham cracker base. Arrange sliced strawberries in neat rows over half of the filling to create red stripes. Spoon alternating lines of remaining cheesecake filling next to strawberries for white stripes. Fill remaining section with blueberries to form the blue canton of the flag.
  4. Cover the trifle with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight. Before serving, add a dollop of whipped topping or cream on each white stripe for extra fluff and visual appeal.

Notes

Chill the bowl and beaters before whipping cream for better volume. Use fresh berries for best flavor and texture. Press berries gently into filling to keep them stable. Chilling overnight is best for firm layers and flavor melding. For gluten-free, substitute graham cracker crumbs with gluten-free cookie crumbs or crushed nuts. For dairy-free, use plant-based cream cheese and coconut cream.
