These easy mummy hot dogs with cheese wrap are a fun, delicious, and surprisingly simple Halloween snack. Made with just hot dogs, crescent roll dough, and cheese sticks, they come together in under 20 minutes and are perfect for parties or a spooky weeknight treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 hot dogs (beef, turkey, or chicken)
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough (Pillsbury sheets recommended)
  • 4 string cheese sticks (mozzarella)
  • Mustard (yellow, for decorating)
  • Optional: Cooking spray or melted butter (for brushing)
  • Optional: Everything bagel seasoning or sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cut each string cheese stick in half crosswise, then cut each half lengthwise into 4 thin strips (32 strips total). Set aside.
  3. Unroll crescent dough onto a cutting board. If using perforated triangles, pinch seams together to form a solid sheet.
  4. Cut dough crosswise into 24 thin strips, about 1/2 inch wide each.
  5. Wrap 4 thin cheese strips around each hot dog, spacing them evenly along the length.
  6. Wrap 3 dough strips around each hot dog at an angle, leaving small gaps (about 1/4 inch) for cheese to peek through. Leave about 1/2 inch of hot dog exposed at each end. Tuck ends of dough strips underneath.
  7. Place wrapped mummy hot dogs on prepared baking sheet, about 1 inch apart.
  8. Optional: Brush dough with melted butter for golden finish.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until dough is golden brown and cheese is bubbly.
  10. Let cool 2-3 minutes, then dot two small mustard dots on exposed hot dog at one end for eyes.
  11. Serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, keep dough cold until ready to use. If dough strips break, chill them for 5 minutes. For air fryer: cook at 350°F (175°C) for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway. Can be assembled up to 24 hours ahead and refrigerated, or frozen unbaked for up to 3 months.
